This qualification aims to build the knowledge and understanding of learners on how to prevent and control infection. This qualification covers the principles of the causes and spread of infection, cleaning and decontamination, personal hygiene and preventative measures. There are 4 mandatory units that are required to be successfully completed and they are: -Principles of the cause and spread of infection in health care settings -Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings -Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in health care settings -Principles of infection prevention and control in a health care setting Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units.The course will be taught through one to one sessions with your assessor within your workplace and through the completion of the work assigned to you by your assessor.Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: -Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care -Level 2 Certificate Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes -Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Working in Mental Health -Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness -Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Safe Handling of Medicines
