What will I do on this study programme? This study programme has been specifically designed to develop your knowledge and practical skills through the study of variety of optional units and the following mandatory units promote and sell products and services, monitor and maintain health and safety practices, cut women's hair to create a variety of looks, style and dress hair using a variety of techniques, colour hair to create a variety of looks and hairdressing consultation support for colleagues. You will further develop your knowledge and apply the skills you have learned through working in a real life commercial salon and attending work placements throughout the year. In addition, tutorial support, personal and social development, and Maths and English development are fundamental elements of this study programme and will be embedded into your vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional skills class as part of your weekly timetable. Over 19s completing this qualification will also have the opportunity to complete a Retail Skills Certificate, which is compatible with the Apprenticeship framework. How will I be assessed? We will assess you all through the year with online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You will also have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and you will manage targets that have been set throughout the year for you by your tutor. What options do I have after successfully completing? Progress to Barbering, Level 3 Salon Management, Certificate, Level 4 Salon Management, Foundation Degree Specialist programmes within the hair or beauty area.
