What will I do on this apprenticeship? Apprenticeships are all about learning on the job - getting paid while you learn from your employer. You'll spend most of your week at work, coming to college for a day a week. You will need to do a number of qualifications including a Level 2 in Horse Care and a Technical Certificate. Topics will include preparing and cleaning stables, maintaining the health and well-being of horses, preparing horses for use, preparing and maintaining horses on grazing land, loading and unloading horses under supervision and maintaining effective working relationships. How will I be assessed? Your personal assessor will make regular visits to your workplace to conduct reviews of your progress and to make sure that you are on target to gain your qualifications. You will be assessed on practical skills tests, assignments and observations at work. What options do I have after successfully completing? Progress to Advanced Apprenticeship in the equine industry together with BHS examinations Horse Management BTEC Extended Diploma. Job/career opportunities Trainer, riding instructor, yard manager, groom, farrier, behaviour and welfare specialists, horse nutritionist or back specialist.
