Learners will be introduced to a wide range of artistic experiences and skills. The course is divided into 3 terms. In the first term, learners will be introduced to materials and equipment; develop drawing techniques in pencil, including basic measuring techniques; learn colour mixing skills; develop watercolour techniques, including wet-in-wet, resist methods, flat and graded washes. In the second term, learners will further develop drawing techniques including perspective and ellipses; be introduced to acrylic painting techniques. In the third term, learners will be; introduced to drawing in charcoal, soft and oil pastels; develop mixed media techniques, including textured surfaces and ink.
