You'll develop the knowledge and skills that support teaching and learning in primary, secondary or special schools. This course covers a wide range of areas, including children and young people's development, supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs, and communication and professional relationships. You'll study one day a week in college and spend the rest of your time learning in your workplace. You'll gain a QCF Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, and Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English. You could go into into a range of jobs such as teaching assistant, classroom assistant or learning support assistant. Alternatively, you could move on to study the Advanced Apprenticeship in Specialist Support for Teaching.
