Course summary Pilates for Pregnancy What experience or skills do I need to join this course? No previous experience of Pilates is necessary. You should be in generally good health and you should consult your midwife / healthcare professional prior to enrolling on this course. You will be asked to complete a Physical Activity Risk Assessment Questionnaire (PARQ) at enrolment. What is the course about? Pilates is designed to benefit the whole body strengthening and lengthening muscles while paying particular attention to the body's "power house" the core muscles of the back and abdomen. During pregnancy women can often suffer from aches and pains in the back and hips. This workshop will show you some simple exercises that will help to strengthen your muscles while showing you how to adapt them as your pregnancy progresses. We will also look at exercises to benefit your recovery post-pregnancy how to stretch your muscles and breathing techniques to aid relaxation. For the first session you will need: Loose comfortable layered clothing A drink and if desired a snack for during the break A small cushion or towel A notepad and pen to make notes if desired (a handout will be provided detailing everything covered during the workshop) Floor mats are provided however you are welcome to bring your own mat if you would prefer Additional costs and/or resources: ?? ?? ??
