Pilates Based Body Conditioning

This course integrates the whole body by training body areas in isolation or together through the application of movement following the principles and stability associated with Pilates.  Each exercise has a muscular emphasis (e.g. control flexibility and balance) whilst allowing you to work at different levels progressing within your own ability and co-ordination.  It also enables you to build strength within the body using slow controlled and continuous movement patterns.  It incorporates the serenity of yoga the core focus of Pilates and the gracefulness of tai chi and using movements to condition the body. This is a mixed ability class which enables everyone to participate via the provision of variations to the exercises ensuring all activities are suitable for the beginner through to the more advanced learner. What experience or skills do I need to join this course? Suitable for people with some or no previous experience What is the course about? To improve flexibility and mobility develop core strength and stability strengthen and tone muscles (including the back and abdominal muscles); to develop muscle control joint stability balance posture and ability to relax. For the first session you will need: To have completed a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) Loose comfortable clothing suitable for exercise A non-slip mat and water or a soft drink Additional costs and/or resources:  Your tutor may recommend a Yoga/Pilates block or weights How will I know how I am getting on?
