All students study 60 credits (20 units) at level 3, 45 credits of which are science subject based. The course consists of 15 level 3 credits in anatomy and physiology, 15 level 3 credits in chemistry, 9 level 3 credits in physics and 6 level 3 credits in maths, with 15 additional units in study skills.The science units are graded to pass, merit or distinction whilst the study skills units are ungraded. Students typically progress on to courses in medicine, dentistry, radiography, optometry, nursing, pharmacology, biomedicine, biology, genetics, nutrition, dietetics, psychology, physiotherapy etc. Mature students who have benefited from life and work experience, and lack the necessary qualifications to progress onto degree courses in the area of medical and medical bioscience subjects.
