Who is the course for: This course is to introduce students to all areas within the performing arts industry in an exciting and rewarding vocational style. Learning a broad foundation of theoretical knowledge which is explored through a practical platform and allows students to develop their skills and maximise their achievement. This course is designed to prepare students to progress onto Level 2 Performing Arts, Production Arts and Styling courses. Course Content: Course units include: Music Acting Dance Musical theatre Technical theatre Students will learn through: Technque exercises Workshops - practical and theoretical Rehearsals Performance (in both performance and technical roles) Learn a range of styles, working towards regular performance opportunities in varied settings including our brand new theatre The Edge. Throughout the year you will discover your strengths whilst finding out more about professionalism and the industry itself. Study Methods: Study on the course is achieved within guided learning hours at the campus. You will be given assignments by your tutors, which will clearly explain the evidence required to pass the units that you are studying. You will then work together with your tutors, and others in your group, in order to develop your skills to the highest level possible. All of your assignments will have a vocational context, which means that you are preparing for real-life situations in the industry, and for further study/progression onto one of our Level 2 courses. How is the course assessed: Your work will be assessed by your tutors, and you will be graded against the grading criteria that make up the units that you will be studying. You will be given vocational assignments by your tutors that will allow us to assess your work for particular units. In this way, you will be expected to produce the same high standard of work that will be expected of you in the industry that you are training to work in.
