Hairdressing, NVQ Level 3

The course will cover the following aspects of hairdressing including; how to promote additional products and services, aspects of health and safety and professional practice. How to provide a hairdressing consultation service and how to creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques and how to colour hair using various techniques. You will also learn how to provide a colour correction service and how to creatively style and dress both short and long hair. In addition, you will cover hairdressing science and business studies as well as learn how to plan and implement a variety of promotional activities. Practical skills will be assessed when working on clients within the Colleges own commercial salon. Theoretical knowledge will be assessed by assignment work and external tests set by the awarding body. Evidence of all assessments will be collated into a portfolio and submitted at the end of the year. You are also required to attend a weekly work placement. You will also gain a certificate in Functional Skills - English and Maths and a BTEC Award in Work Skills. You are required to purchase a professional salon uniform, equipment and text books, which will be discussed at your interview.
