This qualification provides the knowledge required to progress in health and social care and will prepare you for employment in the sector or for higher education. The units studied are relevant to a variety of careers within the health and social care sector. You will gain knowledge and understanding of a wide range of subject areas related to health and social care in practical, active and work-related situations. Work experience is a key feature of the course and is used to support personal and professional development. You will prepare a self-development plan reflecting personal abilities, goals and career aspirations and identify vocational work placements, formal study and voluntary activity to enhance your knowledge, skills and practice. You are required to complete a minimum of 200 hours of work experience divided between three different placements. To be successful on the course you will need to be able to use communication skills to solve problems, meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a team. A commitment to studying on a full-time course is essential.
