UPDATED 20151218 08:48:59

The BTEC Sport level 3 course develops many transferable skills: time management, leadership, communication, resilience, independent thinking and problem solving, as well as the ability to draw together knowledge and analyse sources to construct extended essay type answers, all of which are essential for further study or future employment. This course provides a natural progression for candidates who have studied GCSE Physical Education but should not be discounted by students who have not previously studied PE but have a strong interest in the subject. It provides a balanced and broad based course and will prepare learners for a career within the sports sector but also other areas should the learner decide an alternative career pathway. The course is worth 2 A2 Levels. BTECs are a highly successful qualification, suitable for a wide range of learners with lessons taught both practically and theoretically. BTECs provide a real-world approach alongside a theoretical background giving learners knowledge and understanding that they can transfer into either the workplace or a higher education setting. The PE Department has outstanding facilities including two designated theory classrooms with ICT facilities, four badminton court sports hall, dance studio, gymnasium, and a state of the art fitness studio. As part of the BTEC Sport course, all students are given free membership to the Fitness Gym.
