Preparation for the Police Service (Blue Light)

The Preparation for the Police Service study programme is a technical level qualification which provides learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills to undertake a career in the Police Service or other law enforcement agencies. This is a one-year programme designed to support learners applying for the Special Constabulary. This qualification has been developed in partnership with a number of police forces across the country and is formally recognised by the College of Policing, the association which sets professional practice standards, supports partnership working to facilitate community policing, and leads on ethics and integrity in the Police Service.

Name: Preparation for the Police Service (Blue Light) Qualification title: Diploma in Preparation for the Police Service (QCF) Qualification type: Other regulated/accredited qualification Assessment Assessment methods will vary. You are expected to build a portfolio of evidence for each unit. Assessments will include presentations, essays, workbooks, discussions, practical performance, viva, physical testing and externally set exam assessments. Entry requirements

You are expected to purchase a uniform to wear at College and for practical sessions. Kit costs vary depending on the items purchased and the cost is non-refundable once the order has been placed. You are also asked to contribute towards the end-of-year celebration event and initial team building day. Total costs are approximately £130. There may be additional events during the year to which you may be expected to contribute. Financial assistance is available, depending on your circumstances.
