Jewellery-Silver Clay Jewellery

UPDATED 20151217 14:05:31

These relaxed and friendly workshops are an ideal introduction to working with Silver Clay. This is a compound of 99.9% silver powder mixed with a binding agent which when fired burns off to leave fine silver. You will have the opportunity to work with lump Silver Clay, Syringe Clay, Paste Clay and Cork Clay to make two and three dimensional pieces of jewellery including filigree pieces, such as pendants, Ear rings, Charms, Rings and Cuff links. You will learn how to handle, shape, stamp, texture, mold and dry Silver Clay and learn how to finish and fire a piece using a blowtorch and a kiln. You will also be taught how to add Cubic Zircona gemstones and how to incorporate Semi Precious Stones/ Freshwater Pearls into your design. Plus, how to solder findings, how to patinate your pieces and some traditional silversmithing techniques so that you can create a finished item of Jewellery. You can choose which project(s) you make dependent on materials and time available. Suitable for the Beginner and those with some knowledge of Jewellery Making. Adaptations can be made which can challenge the more advanced Jewellery maker. To provide the skills to make Jewellery in an exciting and fun environment, the emphasis is on designing and making Jewellery which you will love to wear. In each workshop you will, under guidance, design and create your own individual piece(s) of Jewellery. You can see some of the pieces that can be made on the Silver Workshops page at www.thejewelleryacademy.co.uk
