A Level Physical Education (Newly introduced in 2016)

To study this course you need to be actively participating in sport at a high level, preferably as a member of a team, as there is a 30% practical assessment in the role of player/performer or coach. The course will give you knowledge, understanding and skills relating to the scientific and practical aspects of physical education and it will explore the socio-cultural aspects of a range of sporting activities. You will need to have a high level of interest and ability in Science and the course further develops aspects of Science, Psychology and Sociology in a sporting context. You will also learn to evaluate performance and suggest plans for improvement and will cover the benefits of healthy living alongside topics such as the role of media in sport.
