Who is the course for? Linear A Level Psychology is the fascinating scientific study of behaviour. You will study how people interact, how we change and develop, how we think, how the nervous system works, how we differ from animals and how we decide what is normal. You will develop your ability to think critically and analytically, further develop both your oral and communication skills and your ability to plan statistically viable experiments. What can it lead to? A level Psychology can open up a range of careers and higher education courses in psychology, social sciences, and neuroscience and media studies. Some of the careers that these courses can lead into are social work, clinical or educational psychology, research, teaching and in the field of media. What will I study? Unit 3 - Applications of Psychology - the aim of this unit is to enable students to study how psychology can be applied to the real world and develop students' understanding of approaches studied for AS level. Students will study the following applications: Criminological Psychology, Child or Health Psychology. Unit 4 - How Psychology Works - this unit focuses on the debates between approaches within contemporary psychology. Students study aspects of clinical psychology including different treatments and explanations of mental health issues. In the issues and debates section, students develop an understanding of conceptual and methodological issues and how to use theories and evidence from different areas of psychology and apply them to issues.
