On this course you will learn about Biology and disease, and the variety of living organisms. Biology is a fascinating subject - the key question that underpins Biology is 'How does life work?'. To begin with you will study the components of cells and how molecules transport across a cell membrane. Next you will study the structure and function of full organs such as the heart and the lungs. During the first year you will also study the structure and function of DNA, cell division and immunity. Practical and investigative skills are also assessed. This is certified by AQA. The course covers the following topics: Biological molecules, Cells, Organisms exchange substances with their environment, Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms, Energy transfers in and between organisms, Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments, Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems and The control of gene expression.
