Understand and respond in speech and writing to spoken language/written language. Develop spontaneous speech to conversational level. Develop translation skills. Show knowledge of and apply accurately the grammar and syntax prescribed in the specification. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of topics including the media, popular culture, healthy living/lifestyle, family/relationships and environment, the multicultural society and contemporary social issues. Study in depth 2 cultural topics from a list of literary works or films. In-depth individual study of a guided topic of the student’s choice. • Develop speaking to conversational level with increasing spontaneity and understanding of natural French or German. • Prepare for work in a global market. • Develop skills of communication, debate and literacy at advanced level.
