The course is studied over 12 hours and covers how to deal with emergencies and illnesses involving babies, children and young adults. Emergency topics include: Unconsciousness; Resuscitation; Shock; Poisoning; Allergy; Bleeding; Choking; Burns; Fractures; Head/neck/back/eye injuries; Foreign objects; Bites and Stings. Illnesses include: Diabetes; Asthma; Epilepsy; Sickle cell; Meningitis; Croup; Effects of extreme heat and cold including febrile convulsions
