Dressmaking (NCFE Level 1)

The course will cover how to safely use sewing machines, and other equipment. How to sew and construct garments using the correct techniques. We will learn to understand body measurements, alter patterns and cut out fabric. Then how to understanding the sewing pattern instructions, and using the correct techniques, to construct your first garment.

Name: Dressmaking (NCFE Level 1) Qualification title: Award in Creative Craft (QCF) Qualification type: External awarded qualification - Non-accredited Assessment A variety of teaching strategies will be used: Whole class teaching, group work, paired work and one to one. You will receive both verbal and written feedback from your tutor about your progress on course. You will complete a folder of work, which will be continually assessed by your tutor. Entry requirements

Sewing machines and other large equipment is supplied but learners should aim to supply their own basic sewing kit of scissors, pins & needles, and a tape measure can be bought for about £5. All other materials and threads etc. for the project need to be supplied by the learner, this cost depends on the fabric purchased, but we encourage re-using, recycling and love charity shops!
