GCSE Science at Hull College is provided in such a way as to allow students to reach the standard required at a point in the course appropriate to their background and abilities. AQA GCSE Science is a single GCSE subject, which aims to build the understanding and knowledge of science while allowing students to develop a critical approach and acquire the skills necessary for progression to careers requiring science or who wish to study the subject for its own sake . Study areas include: Biology Human , Biology and Adaptation , Evolution and the Environment , Chemistry , Products from Rocks and Crude o, Oils, Earth and Atmosphere , Physics , Energy and Electricity , Making electricity and Radiation and the Universe . The course is assessed by means of both examinations and coursework. The coursework makes up 25% of the final grade. There are 2 x 1.5 hour short answer question exams (together, these 2 exams make up 75% of the final grade). The exams are taken in June.
