Draw and Paint People: All Abilities

A course for those who wish to develop their skills in drawing and painting people, including working from a clothed model (model fees are included in the cost of the course) and from photographs. Some previous experience of drawing and painting (in watercolour, pastels or acrylics) would be an advantage.

Name: Draw and Paint People: All Abilities Qualification title: Non regulated Community Learning provision, Crafts, Creative Arts and Design Qualification type: Assessment This is a semi-structured course, building your knowledge and skills through a series of achievable exercises in easy stages, designed to help you understand various drawing and painting techniques focussing on portraits and figure drawings. You will be encouraged to experiment with a range of materials, methods and approaches. The tutor will be on hand to offer help and advice, allowing you to explore and experiment with various materials and develop your confidence. Cartridge paper (A3); graphite pencils (2B and 6B) and a plastic eraser Cartridge paper, A3 or larger Pencils: 2B, 6B Plastic eraser Small sketch book or note book Coloured pencils and/or water-soluble coloured pencils (optional) Good quality watercolour and/or acrylic paints Paintbrushes (round and/or flat) Willow charcoal and a putty eraser (optional) Tissues or rag An apron or old shirt, to protect clothing The tutor will give guidance regarding materials during the first session but if you wish to buy your materials in advance, the following online suppliers offer good value: www.jacksonsart.com www.artsupplies.co.uk www.atlantisart.co.uk If you prefer to shop in person, try the Cass Arts shop, located behind the National Gallery in central London, which always has a good range of discounts.
