Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an exciting new development which utilises the very latest in 3D computer modelling to support the design, manufacture and construction process. It is used by architects, construction professionals, designers and engineers to create a detailed 3D model for new buildings. It is seen as an important move forward for the construction industry and is supported by the Government which expects all its projects to be utilising 3D BIM collaboration from 2016.This course aims to prepare people for these roles by giving students both a broad construction curriculum alongside technical training in BIM related software. You will also have the opportunity to undertake a work placement during the second year of your programme.Core units:Health, safety and welfareSustainable constructionMathematics in construction and the built environmentScience and materialsConstruction technology and designBuilding technology in construction.Possible additional units:Graphical detailing in constructionMeasuring, estimating and tendering processesMechanical and electrical servicesBuilding regulations and controlComputer aided drafting and designProject in construction and the built environmentDesign procedures in constructionSurveying technology in topographic surveying. In additionWork experience Performance improvement programme
