We will begin with warm up exercises including painting from life and more also freely to build confidence and get to know the materials. You will then be supported to make a more finished piece of work and will be shown how to think about composition and what papers to use.

You will need to bring your own paint, brushes and palette. Although there will be some available to use at the first session. Paint: You will need the primary colours red, yellow and blue of your choice or buy an introductory set with these colours in. Better to get fewer colours in Artists quality than a large colour range of cheap colours. Artist quality colour goes a long way as the colour is so pure you need less of it. Avoid Smiths: good makes include Winsor and Newton Cotman is their student range which is ok, Schminke, or Daler Rowney Artist quality.
