Portrait Drawing Beginners III

UPDATED 20151204 15:02:05

On this course you will further develop what you have learnt previously. You will continue to practise drawing from observation in order to produce accurate studies through a range of exercises. You will be encouraged to produce a final portrait study of your choice. It could be a family member or a self-portrait study. You will be encouraged to think of the different viewpoints you could approach your study from and produce a series of preliminary sketches which explore texture, use of line and tone. Once you have produced these you will choose a final composition for your study and produce a final outcome. During the course you will learn: How to develop a creative process or way of working. How a portrait can be created from different mark making techniques. How to use tone to create the illusion of form. How to use colour (media such as pastel or soft pencil can be explored). How to make creative decisions about which composition is most visually pleasing. How to produce a final study of a portrait which uses what you have learnt.
