Working with Parents Volunteer Group: Croydon Council provide this opportunity for people who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in the field of family support. This programme runs twice a year and is free to people who commit to volunteering to supporting parents for a minimum of 1 year. You will need to volunteer in a suitable setting, such as a childrens centre or a Homestart, and you will undertake a training programme which runs one day a week at CALAT Thornton Heath Centre. You will work towards the L2 Award in Working with Parents. You will gain this qualification by producing written assignments and by a CALAT assessor observing you in your voluntary placement. Please note that all volunteers will undergo an enhanced DBS disclosure before starting their placements. For further information please refer to the CALAT web-site. Course attendance is 9:30am-2:00pm 1 day per week for 16 weeks. The next intake will be February 2016.
