Access to Higher Education is an intensive one year programme designed to prepare adults (19+) for university study that may not have the necessary qualifications (like A-Levels). The courses are designed specifically for people who have been out of education for a period of time and who have not got the necessary qualifications to go straight to university. If you do not have GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English you will also be offered the option to study for these alongside your chosen course. The Access to Higher Edcaiton course can be demanding and require a lot of self discipline and dedication to succeed. All of the units are assessed through coursework and via various methods which include: Written essays practical demonstrations presentations reports and class tests.You will also be supported by the personalised learning team who will offer dedicated support to help you develop academic writing and research skills and will provide guidance on examination and interview techniques. South Devon College have had a large number of students who have sucessfully completed their Access to Higher Education course and prgressed on to successfully complete a Foundation or Honors degree at our University Centre. More information can be found on our university course pages.*If you take out a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to fund your Access to Higher Education course and succesfully progress on to complete your degree you will not have to pay back your 24+ Advanced Learning Loan.*
