Maths is not only a beautiful and exciting subject in its own right, but also one that underpins many other branches of learning. It links particularly well with the Sciences, and overlaps with Physics in some modules. However, many students like to link it with more literature or arts-based subjects to provide contrast in their work. Maths is essential for studying Maths; Physics or Engineering at University, and for these subjects Further Maths is highly desirable or even essential at the top institutions. Other courses which benefit from Maths A Level are Medicine; Economics; Accounting and other sciences such as Sports Science. The units in A2 build on the knowledge gained in AS and includes work on the Statistical modelling of everyday experiences, such as disease infection rates and spread, probability distributions, and social media.
