As part of the AS and A level reforms this course will follow a new specification from 2015. Students will sit AS exams at the end of Y12 to achieve a stand-alone AS qualification. Students must have an abiding interest in how language is used within social contexts. You will learn about textual variations that occur due to the contexts within which texts are produced and consumed. This will lead to the study of representation within language such as gender, regional or ethnic identity. Language diversity occurring due to contextual factors such as audience and purpose will also be a focus.
