This two year course aims to provide you with the skills needed to succeed in the music industry or progress to Higher Education. You will already have some practical knowledge of music performance as an instrumentalist or vocalist and some knowledge of music technology would be helpful but it is not a requirement.You will be encouraged to widen your musical horizons through performance, instrumental, recording and theoretical skills.
Name: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Qualification title: Subsidiary Diploma in Music (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment The coursework has a practical slant involving live performances at local venues and culminates in a Major project at the end of the second year in which students will need to book and promote their own music event. The course is delivered through a variety of learning methods including lectures, practical demonstrations, group work, workshops and self-study. Assessment is continuous throughout the course culminating in a final grade for each unit taken.Through this course you will encounter various styles of music. We aim to broaden your horizons and experience through practical performance and class based teaching. There will be opportunities for students to form ensembles playing original work and there will be opportunities to perform in public and to work with fellow students on recording projects.
