UPDATED 20151201 12:30:45

Apprenticeships are a popular choice for young people aged 16 - 24* looking for on-the-job training and the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications whilst earning a wage. Most of your training will be directly linked to the career you have chosen, gaining practical experience in the workplace, backed up by attendance at college just one day a week.An Apprenticeship in Barbering will develop your employability skills and give you valuable experience of a variety of routine hairdressing related activities. You will be working in a salon environment where your duties could encompass many areas of the hairdressing / Barbering such as communicating with colleagues and clients, dealing with customer enquiries, carrying our numerous practical hairdressing tasks etc. Your exact duties will depend upon your employer.Where possible staff from the Apprentceship team will help find you an employer and a place of work (although students who are already employed are welcome to apply if sponsored by their employer). Your offer of Apprenticeship training will be dependent upon work placements being available.Apprenticeships are a great option for school leavers who want to get straight onto the career ladder. An Apprenticeship is equivalent to 5 GCSE's.* Please note priority is given to applicants under 19 years of age. Due to funding arrangements, places maybe limited for 19-24 year olds. 24+ will need to apply for a student loan or fund the apprenticeship themselves
