A Level Dance

UPDATED 20151201 10:10:56

At AS you will study two units, the first of which is focused on understanding dance. You will look at the significance of dance through a series of theory-based sessions. You will also learn about the process and craft of choreography through an in-depth analysis of the work of one dance practitioner or choreographer. In the second year you will concentrate on dance appreciation. You will study the context in which dance is presented through a critical evaluation of practitioners and their works. This constitutes the written examination of the course. The final unit of the course centres on the choreographing of a group performance and a solo performance. The course is delivered through a mixture of classroom-based theory sessions and practical sessions in the dance studio.
