The course provides a nationally recognised and vocationally specific qualification with which to enter employment or to progress to higher education such as a degree in business and/or management or an associated specialist field. The programme of study includes a variety of types of business activity such as accounting, administration, finance, human resource management, IT and marketing. There is also the opportunity to gain additional qualifications in WorkSkills. You learn through completing assignments involving investigation and analysis. There are no external examinations, except for Functional Skills/GCSEs. The Subsidiary Diploma is studied in year one. Those wishing to complete the Diploma will go on to study this in year two. The course is delivered through workshops, practical activities and lectures and is supported through individual and group tutorials. In addition to your main programme, you will study English and maths. Depending on your grades on entry, you will study either Functional Skills or GCSEs English and maths (one per year).
