This is a work based learning course which will take at least 12 months to complete. It is suitable for people who are working or volunteering in the adult social care and/or health sectors e.g. day care, residential and supported living, mental health services. Organisations may be in the public, private, or voluntary and community sector. Work roles include: care assistant; personal assistant; key worker; mental health outreach worker; substance misuse worker. You will build up a portfolio of evidence, including written assignments, to demonstrate your competence and knowledge across a range of mandatory and optional units. Examples of units include: ‘The role of the health & social care worker’; ‘Support individuals to eat and drink; ‘Implement person-centred approaches in health & social care settings’. Other elements of the apprenticeship include ‘Functional Skills’. ‘Employees’ Rights and Responsibilities’ and ‘Personal Learning and Thinking Skills’.
