The Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection has been developed in order to provide you with an understanding of the causes of infection and of the ways of preventing and controlling infection in a healthcare or social care setting. The qualification also aims to familiarise you with infection control legistation and policies in England. You will develop an understanding of the methods of cleaning and waste disposal that help prevent the spread of infection, along with an understanding of the importance of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the task undertaken. This knowledge will be underpinned by an increased understanding of the causes of infections, the conditions which allow them to thrive and the ways in which they can be spread.
