About Youth Work: “Youth Work is about working with young people to help them develop their life skills in an informal atmosphere.” Youth Work can happen in many different places, from youth centres and schools to on the street via a detached youth project. Youth Work involves supporting and working alongside young people and could be one to one, in small groups or in a larger centre. You will learn skills and techniques to deal with situations and to promote young people’s learning. You will also get to put these into practice and develop positive working relationships with young people and see the outcomes first hand. JACE offers the Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) and Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) in Youth Work. The Intermediate Apprenticeship is suitable if you want to be or are an Assistant Youth Support Worker. The qualifications takes 12 months to complete. The Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable if you want to be or are a Youth Support Worker. This qualification takes on average 12-14 months to complete. At the end of your Apprenticeship, you’ll be a youth support worker and in a good position to take the next step in your career as a youth worker, with qualifications that most employers will support you in doing on a part-time basis.
