An Access course is for mature students (19+) who have been out of full - time education for one or more years and would like to go on to higher education but do not have the formal qualifications needed. The course offers the opportunity to study five core modules at level 3 (equivalent to A level) as well as the chance to re - take or achieve qualifications in either GCSE English or GCSE Maths. In addition all students are offered tuition in study skills and ICT and tutorial support in order to develop their skills and support their application to university.

If you are 19-23 years old If you are 19-23 the fees will be about £1300 (subject to confirmation). You may not have to pay these fees if you are in receipt of certain benefits or you are studying on your first full Level 3 qualification (i.e. A levels Access).If you are 24 and older If you are 24 or older (on the first day of the course) you will have to pay for the fees which will be about £3600. You may be eligible for a loan to cover these fees and you will not have to pay the loan back until you are earning a minimum of £21000. If you get a loan to cover tuition fees for an Access to HE course and then complete a higher education course you will not have to repay the remaining loan for the Access course.
