This course is a 'year 2' programme for students who have already successfully completed some Level 3 Public Services study. It attracts students from other colleges or schools who may have done a Subsidiary Diploma, or units towards a Diploma, but have reasons for moving to a different college. It is also aimed at those who have already studied successfully at Gateshead on the 90 credit Diploma. An Extended Diploma route gives opportunity for entrance to University: 33% of our current Extended Diploma students have accepted offers to study in Higher Education. The course can also be a direct route into a range of public service roles- it is not only popular with students interested in uniformed services, but also for those interested in many other roles including social work , probation service, youth and community. You are assessed through a series of assignments and activities, so there is no formal exam. We have very strong links with public services in the region, enabling us to offer you valuable first hand experience and practical activities including projects working directly with the services.
