AS Unit 1 (Portfolio Unit – 60% of AS grade): Students submit one or more projects aimed at developing technical skills, and knowledge of the work of others. Coursework is launched with the chosen topic of ‘Human forms’, incorporating options in portraiture, figure drawing, cultural development and the human façade. Unit 2 (Externally set assignment – 40% of AS grade): Students select one starting point to develop following the four assessment objectives. Examination papers are released to students during the first school week in February. A Level Students opting to continue onto the A Level course must be aware that the grade gained at AS will be discounted. Unit 1 (60% of A Level grade): A personal investigation based on an idea, issue or concept of your choice, supported by 1000-3000 word written investigation. Students select their own starting point for the Personal Investigation. Students can develop their own personal preferences, leading to more independent thinking and development of work. Unit 2 (40% of A level grade): Externally set assignment. Examination papers are released to students during the first school week in February.
