Name: Biology A-Level Qualification title: Biology A-Level Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment AS Level Units 1 & 2: These units are assessed by means of two written examination papers, which last 1 hour 15 minutes each and will both include: objective questions, structured questions and short answers. They will also cover: how science works and practical–related questions. Unit 3: Students will submit a written report between 1500 and 2000 words to be marked by the teacher and moderated by Edexcel. The report may be either a record of a visit to a site of biological interest or a report of research into a biological topic. A2 Level Unit 4: The Natural Environment and Species Survival – as for Units 1 and 2. Exam lasts 1 hour 30 minutes. Unit 5: Energy, Exercise and Co-ordination – Exam lasts 1 hour 45 minutes and pre-released article. Unit 6: Practical Biology and Investigative Skills – Students will complete a written report of an experimental investigation, which they have devised and carried out.
