Geography AS/A Level

Students develop their knowledge and understanding of physical and human Geography studying topics including rivers and flooding, plate tectonics, ecosystems, health issues and contemporary conflicts and challenges. Fieldwork and geographical skills are central to studies in Geography and are assessed at AS and A2. A 3 day residential fieldtrip based at the Cranedale centre in North Yorkshire allows students to complete river and coastal investigations. Students develop a range of skills including cartographical skills, investigative skills, statistical skills and graphical skills.

At A2 the Unit 3 exam (60% of A2) is based on ‘Contemporary Geographical Issues’ and the Unit 4a exam (40% of A2) assesses skills linked to the fieldwork investigation.
