Performing Engineering Operations (Electrical) NVQ Level 1

This full-time course is primarily practical in nature and aimed at young people who wish to begin their training in electrical installation work but have not fulfilled the entry requirements for Level 2. Successful completion of this course is therefore the entry requirement to the Level 2 Electrical and Electronic NVQ/VRQ Certificate. Course Content The course, which builds Practical Skills, Maths and English, takes place in our well-equipped workshops on the campus. The technical part of the course consists of two qualifications: 1. NVQ Level 1 Certificate in Performing Engineering Operations: Working Safely in an Engineering environment; Working Efficiently and Effectively in Engineering; Communicating Engineering Information; Wiring Electrical Equipment and Circuits; Assembling Electrical Wiring Support Systems. 2. VRQ Level 1 Certificate in Engineering and Technology (Electrical): Introduction to Working in Engineering; Introduction to Electronics; Introduction to Electrical Installation; Introduction to Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance; Introduction to Basic Maths and Science used in Engineering. The course also includes the following mandatory components: 1. Functional Skills Mathematics 2. Functional Skills - English 3. Functional Skills - Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
