The course covers a range of practical skills and relevant theoretical knowledge. The student will be thoroughly prepared to enter the Beauty Therapy Industry. Continuing development of Functional Skills is an integral part of this course. Students should allocate approximately 10 hours per week for home study to support this course. The facilities available on site are of an excellent standard. COURSE CONTENT 1. Theory and practice of all aspects of Beauty Therapy Treatments: Facials; Make Up; Eye Treatments; Waxing; Manicure & Pedicure 2. Relevant Anatomy and Physiology 3. Employment Standards for Salon Administration and Practice (Subject to VTCT amendments.) ENGLISH AND MATHS We are committed to helping students improve their skills in English and Maths. Students on a full-time course at College who missed out on GCSE qualifications at Grades A-C in these subjects at school will attend additional classes and receive support to enhance their grades. Depending on individual ability, students will work towards GCSE, City & Guilds or Functional Skills Awards to ensure that they have the qualifications needed to progress to University or employment. Name: Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2 Qualification title: NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy Qualification type: NVQ and relevant components Assessment A portfolio of evidence will be collected by the student for assessment. This will consist of written, oral and observed practical evidence. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops or electronic note pads in to class to facilitate learning. Whilst Stafford College will attempt to encourage clients, you will need to create a client base to complete your practical assessments. Entry requirements

Kit & Uniform – £266.00 (approx) payable at beginning of course. This includes trips and workshops relevant to the course, students can apply to the Learner/Adult Support Fund if financial assistance is required or pay in instalments. In addition students will need to purchase a pair of low heeled black shoes. Additional Costs Please note that students aged 19 plus may be required to pay exam and registration costs. This will be payable during the Autumn term. You may be able to get support towards these costs from the College Learner Support Fund, contact Carole Moore on 01785 275512 for further information. Uniform As part of the salon rules and regulations students are not allowed to wear jewellery in the salon environment except one pair of small studs in the lower ear lobe, this also includes facial jewellery.
