This is a new qualification which aims to encourage students who are not taking A level Mathematics to take a level 3 qualification in Mathematics. It is the equivalent of an AS level taken over two years. Students will need at least a B grade at GCSE to start this course. The content areas covered in this qualification are the applications of statistics, probability, linear programming and sequences and growth. It is designed to enable students to make progress from their GCSE studies.

The source booklet will detail one themed task in Section A. Section B will contain three tasks, each of which has a separate theme. The four themes will be assessed in the written paper, which requires students to apply their problem-solving skills in order to answer the questions. A calculator is allowed. 1 hour and 40 minutes.
