The Level 2 Certificate in Personal Finance has been designed for people who are, or who will shortly be starting on a period of life when they can no longer depend on others for their financial provision. In particular, learners will consider the legal and practical constraints on the sources and uses of money; the methods of organising their money through personal budgeting; the considered use of appropriate bank and building society accounts and the concept and consequences of overspending or payment default. There are three units of study: Unit 1: Personal Financial Encounters Unit 2: Money Management Solutions Unit 3: Personal Finance Management Within these units the following topics will be covered: Various sources of money including earned income, inheritance, benefits and borrowing Banking including saving, borrowing and automated banking tools. We will also examine the types of loans and mortgages available. Budgeting. Who the key people / organisations are in personal finance. How to make basic financial decisions. How to understand the key aspects of banking including saving, borrowing and automated banking tools. How to understand the concept of currency exchange. How to understand the concept of payment default, overspending and the consequences. The use appropriate tools (software and IT eg Excel) and methods to manage a personal financial budget
