Both beginners and advanced students/artists are welcome Students will make drawings and/or paintings from the portrait model. There will be at least four different portrait models for this course with the same sitter for two or three sessions. The course will cover exercises in drawing (including beginners exercises as appropriate), the careful consideration of proportion to achieve a good likeness, basic anatomy and various drawing and painting techniques. Students will be encouraged to use different mediums during the course, such as pencil, pen and wash, charcoal, soft pastels, acrylic paint and oil colour.

Students are to supply their own drawing or painting medium, for example pencils of different grades, a putty rubber, charcoal, artists pastels, oil crayons, acrylic paints and oil paints.
