This course has been developed to provide full-time learners the opportunity to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes which are essential for successful progression into higher education, or the Performing Arts Industry. This course enables students to develop both their practical skills and their theoretical understanding of dance. At AS Level, students will undertake units which cover the investigation into dance practitioners and their work, and the development of skills required for performance. At A-Level, the course expands on knowledge/skills gained at AS by focusing intently on the techniques of effective performance; studying and applying choreographic techniques. Students will also study one genre of Dance in detail (either street or contemporary).
