The study of Government and Politics centres around key institutions and political systems at the national and international level. Students will learn about different ideological perspectives, voting trends and key political movements. The UK, the US and European politics are key foci of the course. In the first year you will study the political and governmental structure of the UK: the roles of Parliament, Government and the Courts, as-well as the nature of the UK’s constitution. In the second year you will study the government structure of the US, the history and development of the Republican and Democrat parties, the role of the US Supreme Court and the US constitution. This then leads to a comparative study of UK and US politics. Both AS and A2 are support a wide range of study at higher education.
