This course is suitable for students who are clearly focused on progression into nursing and related disciplines and/or Higher Education. Learners will complete an Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Health Studies). Those who take the Nursing pathway will be expected to complete a minimum of 400 hours in a related placement to nursing. Those who follow the Paramedic pathway will be expected to complete a minimum of 400 hours in a related placement to emergency first aid. This programme is designed to provide students with the skills and technical grounding for them to provide a useful contribution in their employment within the sector. Programme content includes - Developing Effective communication - Equality, Diversity and Rights - Health,Safety and Security - Development through the life stages - Health Education - Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology - Sociology - Caring for Children and Young People - Technology in Health and Social Care Services - Personal and Professional Development in Health Care Those students who take the Paramedic pathway will be expected to contribute to a planned fitness programme alongside their studies.
