This new generation of vocational qualifications has been developed and redefined to be aimed specifically at students aged 16+ and to be more relevant to further education. The course provides a foundation for learners who wish to be competent users of ICT in the workplace. The qualification will give learners the capacity to think creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically. This course has been developed to recognise learners skills, knowledge and understanding of Information and Communication Technology functions, environments and operations. The learners carry out a range of tasks that have been designed to recognise their achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the workplace. The IT Introductory Diploma is equivalent to one A Level. First year of course: This qualification is designed to provide students with the opportunity to improve and demonstrate their ICT skills through building a portfolio of coursework over the two years of the course. The course encourages students to develop responsibility for their own progress by showing committment to completing all coursework units to the highest standard. Second year of course: 4 units from: Digital graphics Web animation for interactive media Computer animation Database design Website production Spreadsheet modelling
